The design on this bag is a tradional woman's design. The parfleche bag was used to carry pemmican, a food product made from bone grease, dried berries, grains and dried meat. The bone grease has excellent preservative properties; pemmican made with bone grease has a shelf life of at least 8 years! It also has three times the nutrition of meat. Rosebud Lakota artist Mike Marshall makes these authentic replicas of rawhide and suede.
